Oscars Recap

Oscars2015-R2This past Sunday I took some time for me and sat down to watch all of the glitz and glamour that is the Red Carpet. I even caught some, but not all of the Oscars. I’ll admit it, for me it’s less about the awards and more about those beautiful dresses, and of course, the bling.

Here were some of my favorites:

  • Idina Menzel: WOW!! My good friend Simon G definitely decked her out! And, that dress. Does anyone know where I can find a version of this in my price range?
  • J-Lo: While I loved her look, I’m a bit disappointed that she didn’t add a necklace to the mix. She would have looked fabulous in some chocolate diamonds from Le Vian.
  • Rosamund Pike from Gone Girl: Love her dress. I also loved the drop detail of her earrings, but if you ask me, they could have been a bit larger (wink).
  • Jessica Chastain: Her blue dress looked stunning with that glistening diamond necklace by Piaget. We are definitely going to see this style make a comeback in 2015.
  • Faith Hill: While I’m not sure about her new “do”, her 50” drop necklace more than made up for it. So beautiful! I just picked out a 50″ Diamonds by the Yard necklace for the store, stop by and try it on. I have no doubt it will make you feel Red Carpet fabulous!
  • Jenna Dewan-Tatum: If you were able to take your eyes off of her beau, Channing, for just one second you might agree that she wore it perfectly. I also love how her earrings tied the whole look together.

And for every Oscar win, there has to be a couple of losers. Here are some looks that didn’t quite hit it home for me:

  • Lupita Nyong’o: C’mon Calvin Klein. Really, all pearls? While I am all for pearls as an accessory this was a little bit over the top. I might even say crazy!
  • Lady Gaga: Who could forget. While we all know she likes to go above and beyond, she should have stopped before she slipped on those red rubber gloves. Yikes.

After all of the red carpet action I found myself sitting there, wondering how I might be able to be snag a seat at next years award ceremony. Does anyone have any hookups? If not, I’ll settle for that Idina Menzel dress and those stunning Simon G. accessories. Every girl can dream.

Simple Gestures Of Love

Valentines Day Gestures

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re still on the hunt for that perfect gift or that perfect date, take a deep breath and relax. The Jeweler’s Wife is here to help. As cupid makes his way to town, here are some simple ideas to show that special person in your life that you care.

Jewelry: Of course jewelry is at the top of my list. Can you blame me? The best part is that you don’t have to break to bank to show someone that you care. Surprise him with new cufflinks, or buy her a simple bracelet that she can wear everyday. At Yelton Fine Jewelers we have items across all price ranges so that you can find that perfect gift, within your budget. You never know, we may even have some surprise specials going on. You’ll have to come in to see (wink).

Flowers: There’s nothing like a fresh bouquet to brighten up a room, and someone’s heart. If you live in the West Chester area I highly recommend going to see Rosemary and the gang at Petals & Things Florist. They have a variety of Valentine’s Days bouquets to choose from and also offer modern arrangements that look great on the desk.

Pictures: There is nothing that captures memories like pictures and Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to bring those moments back to life. Whether it’s your best friend or your one and only, break out that box of photographs and find one that you know will bring a smile to their face. Place it in a frame, add a bow, and consider it a Valentine’s Day success.

Chocolate: Need I say more?

Pizza: Dining amongst the masses on Valentine’s Day can be a stressful, and expensive, experience. Instead, head to Richard’s Pizza in Hamilton, Fairfield or Monroe. Every year, with the arrival of cupid, their pizza takes on a new form – as a heart. How cute is that? You better believe that Mark, I, and the boys will be feasting on our very own heart shaped pizza this Valentine’s Day. After all, I’m a Hamilton girl at heart.

Whether you are planning a huge Valentine’s Day gesture, or are opting for a cozy, relaxing night at home with the one that you love. The best advice I can give you is to do something. And by that, I mean anything.

I know there are a lot of people out there that look at Valentine’s Day and think, “Bah, it’s just a Hallmark holiday.” Even if it is, so what? If you ask me, it’s still a great opportunity for us to show the people in our lives how much they mean to us. You might be surprised how much fulfillment you get from surprising your significant other, your family, or your friends with just a small token.

Happy Valentine’s Day all. Spread the love.
