Tina’s Fashion Secrets

On our recent trip to LA, my wardrobe choices got a lot of buzz in the social media world. With the outpouring of comments and questions, I realized that it might be time for me to reveal my fashion secrets so that we can all benefit from them. Call it a win!

I am one of those girls who likes to own her own wardrobe pieces. While there are plenty of great services out there now that allow you to borrow a look, it’s just not for me. The draw back being, clothes and accessories can be (really) expensive! This is where it’s important to learn balance. I tend to look for bargains at places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls so that I can splurge on other items. I’m talking shoes, handbags and, of course, accessories!

If you’re looking to spruce up your wardrobe for fall, or any other season for that matter, take these tips from me …

STITCH FIX

If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix, it’s time you were informed. You can thank me later. Spend a bit of time building an online style profile, invest $20 and voila, you have your very own style assistant. Talk about feeling important! After you sign up your assistant will ship you five fashion pieces at a time. The frequency of shipments and the budget range is totally up to you. When you receive the items if you buy any of them they waive you’re $20 styling fee and … if you buy all five, you get 25% off.

The key here is feedback! If you aren’t happy with something, tell them why so that your picks are even better next time. It is also very helpful to keep a Stitch Fix Pinterest board so that you can share the looks with your stylist. I even went as far as to add my stylist to my Facebook page so she could get a better understanding of my lifestyle. We’re on our way to being besties.

THREDUP

My second secret is ThredUp, an online consignment store. It’s easily becoming my favorite place to shop, because the deals are AMAZING. I’m talking a Banana Republic skirt for $10, a Diane Von Fusterberg top for $30, and a Belle by Bagledy Mischka dress (with tags) for $40. One time I even scored a Kate Spade on this site for $75.

The deal with this site is that you get free shipping and free returns within in 14 days, as long as you accept a ThredUp store credit as your return payment. And, even if you don’t the return shipping fee is only $8.99. Not bad considering you have the opportunity to score some really good deals!

GLAD RAGS

One of my dreams in life was to open a mobile fashion boutique. I wrote out a business plan, I picked a name (Sassy Axles), and was ready to move full force ahead until God made it clear that he had different plans for me. He told me I was better off continuing on my current path. I’m glad I did, but I am also ecstatic that my great friend, Lauren, had the same dream and ambition to create Glad Rags.

Her business model is a bit different than the one that I had mapped out, but she’s been rocking it! She just finished remodeling an antique Shasta camper and has been filling it with all sorts of awesome fashion finds. Follow her on Facebook and you will quickly fall in love with the concept. Also keep your eyes and ears open as Yelton Fine Jewelers and Glad Rags will be teaming up in the not-so-distant future.

And there you have it. Just a few tips to make your wardrobe even better! If you ever have any questions about fashion, jewelry, or accessories you know that I’ve got your back. If you have any shopping tips that you want to share, send them my way, I would love to hear them!

Happy shopping everyone!
