I’ll be the first to admit that my husband is VERY good to me. That said, sometimes (ahem, a lot of times) I still like to treat myself. After all, the only person that knows exactly what you need at any given moment is yourself, right? That last minute massage, those retail therapy purchases, and, that perfectly purple manicure. If you ask me, those aren’t selfish acts. They’re part of the Tina self-care package.
(Mark, I know you’re laughing)
As Mother’s we work hard. Not to mention the things that we balance in addition to our children. Careers. Partners. Parents. Forever friends. Umm, life. Sometimes at the end of a long day I sit down, stare into space, and think, “Phew, I made it.” Ladies, who’s with me?
First of all, a big shout out and a high five to my fellow Mother’s out there. Second of all, with Mother’s Day just around the corner and I encourage you all to treat yourself! To people that are constantly taking care of others I know the idea of splurging on YOU might be difficult, but c’mon YOU deserve it! Not sure where to start? Here are a few ideas …
- Good Reads: Books are a great gift to self. I love getting lost in a story, and I also appreciate the alone time. Lately I’ve had my eye on The Lake House by Kate Morton.
- Retail Therapy: Whether it’s a new outfit, a piece of shiny bling, or a purse that you’ve been eyeing, buy something that will make you feel beautiful! I may have upgraded my Stitch Fix order to a double box in May.
- Pampering: If you’re craving some relaxation, make your way to the spa. A mani-pedi combo is a good mood booster, but if you can make a day of it. Book a massage, enjoy a facial, or simply sit quietly in the steam room.
- A Night Out: Sometimes I find that a night out is the best medicine. Grab a girlfriend, or invite the hubby and kids. Whether it’s your favorite restaurant or a theatrical event, find a good reason to get out of the house. Maybe even pull out those heels?
Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you follow through! Mother’s Day is your opportunity to sit back, relax and splurge a little bit. Get it!
