Holiday Stress? It’s A Blessing.

Get up. Scan e-mails. Make breakfast. Address a handful of holiday cards. Get the kids to school. Go to work. Run errands during lunch to check off a couple more wish list items. Get off work. Rush to the post office. Think about working out. Instead, glam up for the next holiday party. Mingle. Get home. Wrap all of the packages that arrived on the porch. Hit the internet to check on those presents that are still in transit from the North Pole. Reply to group texts about work party, ladies holiday cheer, and family gatherings. Clean up, a little bit. Sleep, a little bit. Repeat.

Does anyone else’s life feel a little like this lately?

The holidays are crazy, no doubt, but sometimes we get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle that we lose sight of what this season is really all about. We get blindsided by our social calendars and forget to cherish our relationships. We stress about our shopping list without remembering how fortunate we are. We get anxious when the checkout line is moving slooow without extending empathy to those behind the counter.

It’s so easy to do and I know, I am guilty too! As my gift to you this holiday season, here’s just a little reminder to take a moment. Look around. Like, really … look around. When you do you’ll start to notice that this stress that we all experience this time of year. It’s a blessing.

We’re lucky because we can afford to put presents under the tree. We’re loved by the friends and family who surround us. We’re fortunate to be able to look forward to warm, holiday meals. And, when we recognize that there are plenty of people out there who don’t have the same luxuries, we have an opportunity to be humbled. We have an opportunity to give back.

At Yelton Fine Jewelers this year we’re paying it forward through our Holiday Giving Giveaway. Everyday I’m packaging up a stocking with something sparkly to bring joy to someone who deserves it. Play along on our Facebook Page, and also start thinking about how you can give to someone in need this year. Donate to one of your favorite charities. Visit someone who is lonely. Or, spend some time volunteering. This blessing we all have? Let’s share it.

Happy holidays everyone! I am so grateful for all of you and look forward to hearing how you spread cheer this year. Wishing you a season full of happiness, and all of the other things that really count <3.
