L is for LeVian

February has arrived, and with Valentine’s Day around the corner the “L” word is flying through the air. For most people that word is LOVE, but here at Yelton Fine Jewelers it more commonly refers to one of our favorite designers …

As a September baby I’m delighted to announce that LeVian’s gemstone of the year is the Cornflower Ceylon Sapphire. Looking ahead to spring, I love their focus on the color Nude! In the jewelry world, this translates to stunning gemstones such as Neapolitan Opal and Peach Morganite. Need I say more? Opals are not easy to find, but LeVian has done a great job uncovering them. And, for the wanna-be-brides Peach Morganite is becoming a strong contender for engagement rings. Let me know if you need help dropping hints!

Last, but not least, I’m so excited to see that geometric designs are sticking around for 2018. Leveraging chocolate diamonds, LeVian has done a great job at adding a bit more personality to this modern look. Wear them to the office, or hit the town to really show them off.

Fancy Shaped Diamonds Are Here To Stay

The New Year has arrived! In terms of fashion there are a few trends that we’re okay leaving in 2017 such as corset belts, lingerie as a top, and {ahem} mini backpacks. That said, in the jewelry world were so happy to see that fancy shaped diamonds will be shining even brighter in 2018.

What makes them so fancy, you ask? Well, when it comes to engagement rings round cut stones dominate the marketplace. So, when we refer to a fancy cut diamond, really, we mean anything that isn’t round. Think princess cut, marquise cut, pear shaped, and more.

I’ve always been a big fan of these uniquely shaped stones. Their character. The beautiful way that they reflect light. The fashion-forward couples that they represent. Well, my friends, I’m happy to report that the celebrities have finally caught on. Prepare to see fancy shaped engagement rings everywhere you turn this coming year. Here are just a few recent love stories as an example …

Meghan Markle Cushion Cut Ring

Meghan-Markle

I have to say; Prince Harry did a pretty fabulous job on Meghan Markel’s new ring. A beautiful cushion cut white diamond rests at the center and his hugged by two round diamonds. The diamond side stones carry a bit of history as they were formally part of Princess Di’s personal jewelry collection. I love that!

While we’ve always known Paris to be a fashionista, when I saw her new engagement ring my jaw literally dropped. Her sparkling new bling showcases a whopping 20 carat pear shaped white diamond at the center. One thing is for sure Chris Zylka won’t be losing her in a crowd.

Kaley Cuoco Pear Shaped Ring

Another stunning, pear shaped engagement ring has made its way to the runway. This one belonging to Kaley Cuoco. Her and Karl Cook have always been so adorable together, and now, thanks to that beautiful rock they look even better.

What’s your favorite fancy shaped diamond? If you haven’t jumped on board with this trend yet, now is the time. Ovals and pears and cushions, oh my! They’re going to be everywhere. And, I am so in.
