September is here, can you believe summer flew by so quickly? I have to say, seeing the boys leave for their first day of school is bittersweet. It’s a sigh of relief to have the boys back on schedule and shift my focus to fall season goals at home and at Yelton, but it’s difficult to see them go. Trent is off to seventh grade at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA) and Ty is starting his sophomore year at CHCA. How do they change so much in just three short months? Our family is very blessed to have been able to squeeze in some family trips between the boys’ summer activities and working at the store. Here is a little recap of the Yelton’s Summer…
When Mark and I weren’t running around with the kids in West Chester, we found time to skip town. We took an amazing last-minute summer trip to New York City. It was a first for Ty and Trent, who were in complete awe of the city! The fam toured all the NYC staples like Times Square, the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial. We even got to squeeze in a Yankees game and they ended up beating the Orioles. The boys could not get enough of watching the game live at Yankee Stadium. Definitely one for the books!
My favorite part of the New York trip was… shoe shopping! Kidding, my top experience was actually The Color Factory, a pop-up art exhibit in Soho that we stumbled upon. Each room was a different color and it was very interactive so the boys were able to learn and have fun at the same time. I’ll admit it though, shoe shopping was a close second (shocker, I know).
Now we are back and ready to rock out this school year with a 7th and 10th grader! It’s always hard to kiss summer goodbye but luckily we have plenty to look forward to.
First up, my birthday which is … tomorrow! If you want to help me kick things off swing by the lacrosse field to say HBD. I’ll be celebrating all weekend long cheering on Trent playing with the Premier Lacrosse League. Why not, right?!
From there we’ll shift our focus back to baseball and lacrosse. The boys will be playing well into the Fall which means that Mark and I will be spending a lot of time on the bleachers. The fun kicks off tomorrow in Columbus, where I’ll be repping Trent’s team with my awesome pearl lacrosse necklace (#jewelryforalloccassions).
What’s on your agenda for the school year? Best of luck getting back into the swing of things. When you do be sure to stop by Yelton Fine Jewelers to tell me all about your amazing summer adventures. Can’t wait to see you all soon!
