Simon G Is Coming To Yelton

We are so lucky that Simon G has selected Yelton Fine Jewelers as one of the handful of stores that he’ll be visiting this year. Mark your calendars for Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th if you would like to meet this talented man, browse his amazing collections, and maybe even walk out with something sparkly for yourself.

If you’ve been reading this blog or have ever met me in person you’re well aware of my obsession with Simon G. You might be wondering, of all of the jewelry designers I’ve encountered, why I’ve grown do fond of this one?! Well, here are just a few reasons …

LE4556Something For Everyone: The jewelry industry has no shortage of high-end designers, most of them with high-end price tags. What I love about Simon G is that he does what he can to ensure that his pieces are accessible to everyone.  With styles starting as low as $1,000 you don’t have to break the bank to experience luxury.

Attention To Detail: As designers become increasingly popular the small details often fall by the wayside. Well, I can confidently say this is NOT the case with Simon G. Over the years I’ve watched his collections evolve and the one theme that’s always apparent is his passion for those tiny, handcrafted features. You can see it in every single piece.

LP4555Timeless Beauty: One thing that can be difficult about the jewelry industry is the tendency for trends to come and go. While Simon G. always works to incorporate cutting edge ideas and technology, his pieces are timeless. They’ll complement you just as much at year five, or even twenty, as they did on day one.

Don’t take it from me. Stop in next week to experience these works of art for yourself. The collections we’ll be showcasing include natural white diamonds, natural colored diamonds, vibrant colored gemstones, and an extremely unique colored gold collection. The only downside is that you’ll want them all.

To set up our individual appointment shoot me an e-mail {tine@yeltons.com}. We’ll get you set up to meet Simon, learn about his process, and try on his exquisite pieces in a private setting. Believe me, it’s an experience you won’t regret!

LaFonn is a fun line that combines diamond simulants with sterling silver. These pieces are great for everyday wear. I also bring them with me when I travel to add a little pizazz to my on-the-road look. This line is so popular that we recently decided to double our collection. This weekend you’ll definitely want to check out their new layering pieces and also ask us about the giveaway that they’re offering.

Cheers To 30 Years

We’re all still in shock that 2018 marks our 30-year anniversary as Yelton Fine Jewelers. Time has flown by and over the years we’ve shared so many memories including each new and improved business space, visits from our favorite designers, and of course our loyal customers. Some of whom remember the very beginning.

Roy Yelton was truly a man of passion to build this store from the ground up and create such an amazing community. What many of you don’t know is that he worked as a car salesman, an exterminator, a landlord, and a deputy sheriff before finding his place in the jewelry industry. While his journey wasn’t linear by any means, we’re all so glad that he arrived where he did. This store has been a blessing for our family. Just like a marriage, through good times and bad, love and devotion have always won.

To learn more about how Yelton Fine Jewelers came to be sure to stop by Room 750. This month we’ve dedicated it to the history of our family and this amazing store. As you walk through you’ll quickly realize why we’re so drawn to this business. And believe it or not, it’s not all of the sparkle and glam. It’s the people. Those we work with. Those we serve. And, those we remember.

All of the fun kicks off this Saturday, September 15th. Join us to celebrate this monumental anniversary and let us thank you for allowing us to be your jeweler. We’ll have brews from DogBerry, eats from Troy’s Café, amazing savings, giveaways, and more. We hope to see you all there!

Cheers to 30 years, and many more!

Meet The Jeweler & Goldsmith Of Yelton

It’s Repair Month at Yelton Fine Jewelers. Along with all of the deals that we are offering, we wanted to take the time to introduce you to our talented Jeweler {Lynette} and Goldsmith {Lesley}. If I had to describe them in just two words they would be – rock stars. While it’s easy to focus on all of the sparkly items in our cases, if you ask me the real magic is all thanks to them!

Here’s a little preview into their world …

IMG_4715 (1)

When did you decide to become a jeweler/goldsmith?

  • Lynette: Back in 2000 while attending Miami University. I was taking a jewelry metals class and decided then that I wanted to make a career out of it. From there I left Miami and went to school at GIA in Carlsbad where I received the Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Jeweler, and Marketing degree.
  • Lesley: After graduating with a Bachelors in Business and Sign Language Interpreting I was on the hunt for a job and Yelton offered to train me. Originally, I wasn’t looking to become a goldsmith, but after learning how to do several types of repairs, I found that I really enjoyed the work. And so, I kept on and to this day I continue to learn everything I can to become a better goldsmith.

IMG_4716 (1)

How long have you been with Yelton?

  • Lynette: I have been with Yelton Fine Jewelers for 11.5 years.
  • Lesley: I have been with Yelton Fine Jewelers for almost 6 years.

What’s your favorite part about being a jeweler/goldsmith?

  • Lynette: Taking a broken or “dated” piece of sentimental jewelry and transforming it into a piece that is wearable again.
  • Lesley: Lynette stole my answer! Once the item has been repaired I love seeing the joy that overcomes that customer. It’s wonderful to see the smiles and occasionally the tears.

IMG_4714 (1)

What are your hobbies?

  • Lynette: Disc golf, concerts, board games, reading, and cooking
  • Lesley: In the last couple of years I’ve taken up disc gold, normally with Lynette. I like playing games (Uno is a family favorite), reading, baking, and as weird as it sounds, I love to organize.

And, as a bonus here are a couple of jewelry tips that everyone can benefit from – straight from the experts …

IMG_4718 (2)

How often should a ring be cleaned?

Every six months. Along with cleaning the ring we also like to inspect the stones and prongs to ensure that they’re secure. If you have a hard time remembering to come in, a little trick is to do it every time the time changes.

When should a ring be resized?

Definitely anytime it’s too big, you don’t want to risk losing it! On the contrary if the ring is too small you may notice a rash, or an itching sensation. Sometimes dermatology treatment is necessary, so you’ll want to size up ASAP. If you have any numbness or tingling we can cut the ring off and if we’re not available go to your local fire station.

Thanks to Lynette and Lesley for all of their hard work!! Whether your jewelry needs a little love or a complete overhaul be sure to take advantage of our August repair deals before it’s too late. Give us a call or stop by our store with your damaged items. From there our team will work their magic and have you sparkling in no time.

It’s Moms & Mimosas Time

Moms and Mimosas

Summer is coming to an end, which is always bittersweet. I hate saying goodbye to family excursions, neighborhood BBQs, and all of the QT at the sports fields. At the same time, the Type A inside of me is ready to get the kids back to school so we can all return to a routine. No more 10:30PM bed times!

Moms, if you’re in the same boat, you’re going to want to join us on Thursday, August 16th for Moms & Mimosas. This annual event at Putters Sports Grill is the perfect way to celebrate the end of an amazing summer. Not to mention all of your hard work chasing kids, planning activities, and negotiating sleepovers.

The fun will kick off at 9AM. Along with bubbly and delicious breakfast options, you may even walk away with a little gift from Yelton Fine Jewelers. That’s right, the first 200 moms to walk through the door will walk out with a little purple bag. Because you deserve it!

Happy BTS season everyone! Hope to see you next week.

Family First

This week as I sat at my computer to write my regular blog post no words would come. As time continued to pass the screen remained blank.

You see there has been a lot weighing on my heart lately. Based on recent events in our community it doesn’t feel right to sit here and talk about jewelry trends, my favorite designers, or what’s coming up at the store. Because, the truth of the matter is … life is about so much more.

Today my friends I’m not here to talk about bling. I’m here to remind you all of the larger picture. To encourage you to always put family first.

Family first.

That was the title of a recent e-mail that I received from someone I respect immensely. In that e-mail, they explained that they would be stepping away from the grind for a while. Instead they would be shifting their energy to help their family in a time of need.

Since I received that e-mail two other events have occurred within our Lakota/West Chester community that have caused me to pause. First, a 13-year-old boy was hit by a pitch during a baseball game. This poor boy has faced several challenges since the incident and has only recently made his way back home. Without the support of his family and his community I’m not sure this would have been possible.

Family first.

Andrew

Following this event, a high school Lacrosse player collapsed after a game. What they suspected was heat stroke actually turned out to be a rare brain disorder. Within hours of the game our community came together to support the family and stand behind the child. It’s been remarkable to witness.

Family First.

Stratman

While these are members of my community I don’t personally know either of these families. What I do know is that the theme in these stories is something we all need to give a little more attention too. With a 14-year-old baseball player an 11-year-old lacrosse player at home, I’ve been reminded that life is precious. Every moment counts.

Summer is here. Rather than getting hung up on the things that don’t really matter, enjoy the moments you have with your family. Stay up a bit later. Eat the ice cream. Hug your kids every night and remind them how much you love them. Whether they show it or not, they need to hear it as much as you can say it!

Every cloud has a silver lining and I am proud to be part of this community that has pulled together to support both the Edrington & Stratman Families.  Keep the prayers and support coming! And remember … family first.

Yelton Family Summer Bucket List

It’s hard to believe that summer has officially arrived. One thing is for sure … I’m ready to celebrate! As a family, it’s going to be a busy few months. There will be fun things like family vacations, sports tournaments, and urban date nights. And then, I have some other goals that I’m not sure the boys will love. You know like getting the house clean {wink}. It’s all about balance, right?

In order to keep us accountable I’ve jotted it all down. What’s on the 2018 Yelton Family Summer Bucket List, you ask? Well, here it is …

5. Organize, Organize, Organize

Before we get to those good times we need to roll up our sleeves up and do a little bit of work. We’ve been in this home for three years now and already I can feel the walls closing in on me. The clutter! Ahh! From the closets, to the garage, and everywhere in between it’s time to clean, purge, and organize. My boys are going to love me.

4. Visit Kings Island

After a bit of a hiatus our boys have secured their season passes to Kings Island again, so you’ll be able to find us there on the regular. I’ll admit that I’m not a HUGE of the rides, but I’ll play along in the name of family time. Plus, I do really enjoy the blue ice cream and late-night fireworks. Can you blame a girl?

3. Date Nights

Now that school is out, there’s no need for us to set our alarms for the crack of dawn. You know what that means? More date nights! Mark and I love checking out new restaurants as well as dining at our old favorites. From there we usually catch a movie or post up at a local brewery. Do you have any spots you would recommend for the summer? I’m all ears!

2. Lake Time

While we do own a lake house, sometimes it feels like we never have time to get there! Well my friends this summer it’s right near the top of our summer bucket list and I’m not going to let anything get in the way of that. I can’t wait to spend time in the sun, on the boat, and simply relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Ahhh.

1. Have Fun!

Above all, I want everyone to have fun! To me that means that everyone’s interests are taken into consideration, we make time for each other, and we walk away from the summer with new memories. After all this season is only a few short months. We have to enjoy it while we can!

So, what’s on your bucket list? Did I miss anything on ours? We’re always open to suggestions, especially when it comes to summer fun! Whatever you end up doing I hope you have an amazing couple of months. Happy summer everyone!
