Donate Your Wedding Dress For A Cause

Ladies! How many of you have your wedding dress hanging deep in your closet because you have no idea what else to do with it. Giving it away to another bride doesn’t feel right. Nor does properly preserving it for generations to come. So, there it sits …

Well, what if you could donate it to a good cause?

April 23rd through April 27th Yelton Fine Jewelers is partnering with Great Friends Working Cooperatively to collect wedding dresses. Your donations will be transformed into little Angel Gowns for babies that don’t leave the hospital, providing much needed comfort for bereaved families. In appreciation for your support Yelton’s will be providing a $25 gift card to all donors*.

I’ve already brought my dress and am looking for others to join me. Like my friend Jacky {below} who had been holding on to her dress for thirty-five years!

If you haven’t heard of Great Friends Working Cooperatively, be sure to check them out. This amazing organization brings women together to help make positive change in the greater Cincinnati area. The Angel Gown Project is just one example. If you’re looking for volunteer opportunities or charities to get involved with they can help you connect the dots!

So many ways to give back! Start by reaching in the back of your closet and donating your treasured gown. As a mother losing a little one is unfathomable and my hope is that these dresses will provide at least a little bit of light for the families that are struggling.

Join Me At Glad Rags Boutique

Today I want to introduce you to one of the best kept secrets in Lebanon, Ohio. It’s a little place called Glad Rags Boutique and it’s run by my dear friend Lauren. Isn’t she cute?!

Glad Rags isn’t just any clothing store. Sure, the inventory is fabulous and 100% on-trend, but what sets it apart from the rest is the customer service. Lauren has always had a passion for spreading kindness and when you enter her store, you can tell! Every single customer gets the love and attention that they deserve. This is huge as we all know how tough it can be to shop for clothes. Having a little cheerleader by your side definitely helps you to get the right goods and feel confident at the same time {#winwin}.

Lauren started Glad Rags as an Online Pop Up Shop, but the computer didn’t quite give her that 1:1 interaction she was craving. Lucky for all of us she opened a retail location in Lebanon last Fall which is currently open every Wednesday from 11AM to 6PM. She also does special events and we’re happy to report that she’ll be hosting a Yelton Girls Night Out on Thursday, April 4th. We are so lucky that Simon G has selected Yelton Fine Jewelers as one of the handful of stores that he’ll be visiting this year. If you’ve been reading this blog or have ever met me in person you’re well aware of my obsession with Simon G. You might be wondering, of all of the jewelry designers I’ve encountered, why I’ve grown do fond of this one?! Well, here are just a few reasons …

Cheers To 30 Years

We’re all still in shock that 2018 marks our 30-year anniversary as Yelton Fine Jewelers. Time has flown by and over the years we’ve shared so many memories including each new and improved business space, visits from our favorite designers, and of course our loyal customers. Some of whom remember the very beginning.

Roy Yelton was truly a man of passion to build this store from the ground up and create such an amazing community. What many of you don’t know is that he worked as a car salesman, an exterminator, a landlord, and a deputy sheriff before finding his place in the jewelry industry. While his journey wasn’t linear by any means, we’re all so glad that he arrived where he did. This store has been a blessing for our family. Just like a marriage, through good times and bad, love and devotion have always won.

To learn more about how Yelton Fine Jewelers came to be sure to stop by Room 750. This month we’ve dedicated it to the history of our family and this amazing store. As you walk through you’ll quickly realize why we’re so drawn to this business. And believe it or not, it’s not all of the sparkle and glam. It’s the people. Those we work with. Those we serve. And, those we remember.

Meet The Jeweler & Goldsmith Of Yelton

It’s Repair Month at Yelton Fine Jewelers. Along with all of the deals that we are offering, we wanted to take the time to introduce you to our talented Jeweler {Lynette} and Goldsmith {Lesley}. If I had to describe them in just two words they would be – rock stars. While it’s easy to focus on all of the sparkly items in our cases, if you ask me the real magic is all thanks to them!

Here’s a little preview into their world …

When did you decide to become a jeweler/goldsmith?

  • Lynette: Back in 2000 while attending Miami University. I was taking a jewelry metals class and decided then that I wanted to make a career out of it. From there I left Miami and went to school at GIA in Carlsbad where I received the Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Jeweler, and Marketing degree.
  • Lesley: After graduating with a Bachelors in Business and Sign Language Interpreting I was on the hunt for a job and Yelton offered to train me. Originally, I wasn’t looking to become a goldsmith, but after learning how to do several types of repairs, I found that I really enjoyed the work. And so, I kept on and to this day I continue to learn everything I can to become a better goldsmith.

How long have you been with Yelton?

  • Lynette: I have been with Yelton Fine Jewelers for 11.5 years.
  • Lesley: I have been with Yelton Fine Jewelers for almost 6 years.

What’s your favorite part about being a jeweler/goldsmith?

  • Lynette: Taking a broken or “dated” piece of sentimental jewelry and transforming it into a piece that is wearable again.
  • Lesley: Lynette stole my answer! Once the item has been repaired I love seeing the joy that overcomes that customer. It’s wonderful to see the smiles and occasionally the tears.

What are your hobbies?

  • Lynette: Disc golf, concerts, board games, reading, and cooking
  • Lesley: In the last couple of years I’ve taken up disc gold, normally with Lynette. I like playing games (Uno is a family favorite), reading, baking, and as weird as it sounds, I love to organize.

How often should a ring be cleaned?

Every six months. Along with cleaning the ring we also like to inspect the stones and prongs to ensure that they’re secure. If you have a hard time remembering to come in, a little trick is to do it every time the time changes.

When should a ring be resized?

Definitely anytime it’s too big, you don’t want to risk losing it! On the contrary if the ring is too small you may notice a rash, or an itching sensation. Sometimes dermatology treatment is necessary, so you’ll want to size up ASAP. If you have any numbness or tingling we can cut the ring off and if we’re not available go to your local fire station.
