Holiday Stress? It’s A Blessing.

Get up. Scan e-mails. Make breakfast. Address a handful of holiday cards. Get the kids to school. Go to work. Run errands during lunch to check off a couple more wish list items. Get off work. Rush to the post office. Think about working out. Instead, glam up for the next holiday party. Mingle. Get home. Wrap all of the packages that arrived on the porch. Hit the internet to check on those presents that are still in transit from the North Pole. Reply to group texts about work party, ladies holiday cheer, and family gatherings. Clean up, a little bit. Sleep, a little bit. Repeat.

Does anyone else’s life feel a little like this lately?

The holidays are crazy, no doubt, but sometimes we get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle that we lose sight of what this season is really all about. We get blindsided by our social calendars and forget to cherish our relationships. We stress about our shopping list without remembering how fortunate we are. We get anxious when the checkout line is moving slooow without extending empathy to those behind the counter.

It’s so easy to do and I know, I am guilty too! As my gift to you this holiday season, here’s just a little reminder to take a moment. Look around. Like, really … look around. When you do you’ll start to notice that this stress that we all experience this time of year. It’s a blessing.

We’re lucky because we can afford to put presents under the tree. We’re loved by the friends and family who surround us. We’re fortunate to be able to look forward to warm, holiday meals. And, when we recognize that there are plenty of people out there who don’t have the same luxuries, we have an opportunity to be humbled. We have an opportunity to give back.

Tina

At Yelton Fine Jewelers this year we’re paying it forward through our Holiday Giving Giveaway. Everyday I’m packaging up a stocking with something sparkly to bring joy to someone who deserves it. Play along on our Facebook Page, and also start thinking about how you can give to someone in need this year. Donate to one of your favorite charities. Visit someone who is lonely. Or, spend some time volunteering. This blessing we all have? Let’s share it.

Happy holidays everyone! I am so grateful for all of you and look forward to hearing how you spread cheer this year. Wishing you a season full of happiness, and all of the other things that really count <3.

Introducing Slate and Tell

Yesterday was one of our favorite events of the summer, Moms and Mimosas at Putter’s Sports Grill. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend personally this year, but Gina, Heather, and Megan were there to spread the Yelton love and drink mimosas in my honor. After all, that’s what friends are for, right?!

If you haven’t attended Moms and Mimosas in the past, you should definitely mark you calendar for next year. It’s such a great way to connect with other busy mothers, enjoy delicious grub, and most importantly … let loose a little bit before the back-to-school madness hits.

Moms_Mimosas

As a special treat to all of the moms that attended this year, we did a sneak peak of the Slate and Tell line that will be making it’s way to Yelton Fine Jewelers. From what I hear the reaction was even better than we expected. Even though the ladies only had a few pieces in tow, the moms in the room had no problem envisioning their own custom piece. One that would tell their own unique story.

Slate_Tell

That’s exactly why I love this line so much. It’s just so personal. Using responsibly sourced metals, Slate and Tell creates pendants, rings, and cuff bracelets that can be hand-stamped to carry your custom message. Think your kids’ names, your favorite phrases, family birthdates, your anniversary, or the nicknames of your besties. Anything you want to show off, you can now do so fashionably.

Be on the lookout for this amazing new line at Yelton Fine Jewelers. In the meantime, start dreaming about your own custom piece.

Treat Yourself On Mother’s Day

I’ll be the first to admit that my husband is VERY good to me. That said, sometimes (ahem, a lot of times) I still like to treat myself. After all, the only person that knows exactly what you need at any given moment is yourself, right? That last minute massage, those retail therapy purchases, and, that perfectly purple manicure. If you ask me, those aren’t selfish acts. They’re part of the Tina self-care package.

(Mark, I know you’re laughing)

As Mother’s we work hard. Not to mention the things that we balance in addition to our children. Careers. Partners. Parents. Forever friends. Umm, life. Sometimes at the end of a long day I sit down, stare into space, and think, “Phew, I made it.” Ladies, who’s with me?

First of all, a big shout out and a high five to my fellow Mother’s out there. Second of all, with Mother’s Day just around the corner and I encourage you all to treat yourself! To people that are constantly taking care of others I know the idea of splurging on YOU might be difficult, but c’mon YOU deserve it! Not sure where to start? Here are a few ideas …

MothersDay_Yeltons

  • Good Reads: Books are a great gift to self. I love getting lost in a story, and I also appreciate the alone time. Lately I’ve had my eye on The Lake House by Kate Morton.
  • Retail Therapy: Whether it’s a new outfit, a piece of shiny bling, or a purse that you’ve been eyeing, buy something that will make you feel beautiful! I may have upgraded my Stitch Fix order to a double box in May.
  • Pampering: If you’re craving some relaxation, make your way to the spa. A mani-pedi combo is a good mood booster, but if you can make a day of it. Book a massage, enjoy a facial, or simply sit quietly in the steam room.
  • A Night Out: Sometimes I find that a night out is the best medicine. Grab a girlfriend, or invite the hubby and kids. Whether it’s your favorite restaurant or a theatrical event, find a good reason to get out of the house. Maybe even pull out those heels?

Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you follow through! Mother’s Day is your opportunity to sit back, relax and splurge a little bit. Get it!

Tis The Season To Shine

Yelton_Holiday

After weeks of buzzing around a busy sales floor, fifty trips to Target and a two hour adventure at the post office I am happy to report that Christmas has finally arrived! Phew, we made it. Happy holidays everyone!

While the real magic of this season rests in celebrating the birth of Jesus amongst family and friends, I’ll admit it. I totally get wrapped up in the gifts (no pun intended). Cozied up and surrounded by Christmas lights, I love seeing the boys faces as they open their gifts. The way their eyes get wide and a smile emerges, there’s really nothing better. I also appreciate how they manage to surprise me every year. I have to say, I am one lucky girl.

I’m excited to report back after Christmas to share what our family discovered under the tree. Since we all made the nice list this year, it should be good! I’m also looking forward to hear what you all got this year. Having spent countless hours on the Yelton’s sales floor leading up to the holiday, I know there are a lot of purple boxes floating around, and you are going to LOVE what’s inside. After all, tis the season to shine.

From our family, to yours, we’re wishing you a merry, blessed and sparkly Christmas. Once you do open those little purple boxes, send us a pic! We want to see what that bling looks like on!

A Few Of My Favorite Things

The holidays are here which means family time, gatherings with friends, good eats, and … wish lists. Since I’ve been good this year, I gave some thought to what I might want under the tree. *Ahem* should anyone care to know. As you might expect, I have my eyes on a couple pieces of bling, but that’s not all. To view my current list of favorite things, scroll below …

If you feel inclined to purchase any of these, I’ll gladly accept them at Yelton Fine Jewelers in West Chester (wink).

Lariat Necklaces: My newest jewelry obsession is Lariat Necklaces. Toss one on top of a basic cami to transform your everyday outfit, or pair them with that little black dress if you really want to turn heads. Hearts On Fire has done a great job elevating this design with their Triplicity Triangle necklace.

Vinyl: Call me old fashion, but right now I’m on a vinyl kick. I love that they’re making a come back, and I wouldn’t complain if I found a retro record player underneath our tree this year. Bonus points if it comes with a few of my favorite albums (hint, hint).

Tacori Aerial Collection: Just when I thought I couldn’t love Tacori anymore, they went and launched the Aerial Collection. Oh my goodness. This stuff is hot! Featuring bold shapes and sparkling accents, this collection is created with us, self-proclaimed divas in mind.

Custom Sweatshirts: Bow & Drape have redefined the sweatshirt as we know it. Shop their inventory of unique designs and clever sayings, or submit a custom design to create something that is 100% you. I already have one hanging in my closet that reads, “Eat. Pray. Hustle”. Hoping for more!

Geometrics: Geometric shapes have made their way to the jewelry world and I am not complaining! From chunky, abstract designs to subtle triangular accents, I’m loving what I’ve been seeing lately.

Happy Holidays everyone! What’s on your wish list? If you need more ideas for yourself, or someone you love be sure to check out the 2015 Yelton’s Holiday Gift Guide.

Simple Gestures Of Love

Valentines Day Gestures

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re still on the hunt for that perfect gift or that perfect date, take a deep breath and relax. The Jeweler’s Wife is here to help. As cupid makes his way to town, here are some simple ideas to show that special person in your life that you care.

Jewelry: Of course jewelry is at the top of my list. Can you blame me? The best part is that you don’t have to break to bank to show someone that you care. Surprise him with new cufflinks, or buy her a simple bracelet that she can wear everyday. At Yelton Fine Jewelers we have items across all price ranges so that you can find that perfect gift, within your budget. You never know, we may even have some surprise specials going on. You’ll have to come in to see (wink).

Flowers: There’s nothing like a fresh bouquet to brighten up a room, and someone’s heart. If you live in the West Chester area I highly recommend going to see Rosemary and the gang at Petals & Things Florist. They have a variety of Valentine’s Days bouquets to choose from and also offer modern arrangements that look great on the desk.

Pictures: There is nothing that captures memories like pictures and Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to bring those moments back to life. Whether it’s your best friend or your one and only, break out that box of photographs and find one that you know will bring a smile to their face. Place it in a frame, add a bow, and consider it a Valentine’s Day success.

Chocolate: Need I say more?

Pizza: Dining amongst the masses on Valentine’s Day can be a stressful, and expensive, experience. Instead, head to Richard’s Pizza in Hamilton, Fairfield or Monroe. Every year, with the arrival of cupid, their pizza takes on a new form – as a heart. How cute is that? You better believe that Mark, I, and the boys will be feasting on our very own heart shaped pizza this Valentine’s Day. After all, I’m a Hamilton girl at heart.

Whether you are planning a huge Valentine’s Day gesture, or are opting for a cozy, relaxing night at home with the one that you love. The best advice I can give you is to do something. And by that, I mean anything.

I know there are a lot of people out there that look at Valentine’s Day and think, “Bah, it’s just a Hallmark holiday.” Even if it is, so what? If you ask me, it’s still a great opportunity for us to show the people in our lives how much they mean to us. You might be surprised how much fulfillment you get from surprising your significant other, your family, or your friends with just a small token.

Happy Valentine’s Day all. Spread the love.

For The Girl Who Has Everything

Gift Box With Red BowClunky appliances, ugly sweaters, Groupon vouchers, you name it and I’ve probably received it as a gift in the past. While I appreciate the gestures and always find a good use for any gift, I wanted to provide some words of advice for all of the men out there.

Yes, guys. For those of you who are struggling to find that perfect present to put under the tree. This one is for you.

As you walk through the stores or scour the Internet for something she’ll love, nothing seems to stand out. After all what do you get for a girl that seems to have everything? The problem is only exacerbated when she hasn’t asked for a single thing. “surprise me,” she says.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. When those two little words, “surprise me”, come out, that’s not what she really means. What she really means is “find me something that you know I will love and that represents what I mean to you”.

Gasp. The pressure.

Deep breathes. I’ve got your back. If you happen to love a girl that has everything, here are some simple tips to help you find that perfect gift. If you follow these rules, I guarantee that your “surprise” will be everything that she hoped for.

  • Listen closely. While she may not have asked for anything, I’d bet that if you start listening to every side comment and whisper there are going to be some great hints. When you hear things like, “I need a vacation” or “if I only had a Vitamix”, she’s not just venting. Put ‘em on the list!
  • Simplify it. Whether you’ve got $100 or $1,000 dollars to spend, don’t create extra work by trying to find multiple gifts that she’ll love. Focus. Ask her family members and friends what that one thing is that she needs and wants. Simplify the process and place all of your bets on that one item.
  • Use your own judgment. Rather than struggling to figure out her unique style and taste, rely on your own! When you walk into a store, look for items that you would love to see on her. It’s a sure win and bonus points if you tell her you bought it because you thought it would look great on her.
  • When in doubt, buy jewelry. I know, I’m biased, but it does make a great gift for any occasion. It’s not just the sparkles, or that beautiful, signature Yelton’s box. When you give the gift of jewelry she’ll appreciate the fact that you took time to find something that’s sentimental and will last for many years to come.
  • Need more help? Give me a shout or stop by the store for some one-on-one shopping assistance. I’m here to help you get it right.

Happy shopping and above all, remember, you’ve got this! Even us girls who seem to have everything appreciate your consideration and your tenacity when it comes to holiday shopping. So what if it ends up being another bulky sweater, we’re going to cherish it anyways. And, that’s the truth.
